Preserving Literacy in the Digital Age

Literacy Advocates is a dedicated community with a common mission—to preserve literacy in the digital age. Where literacy educators find what works, connect with who gets it, and remember why teaching reading, writing, and handwriting matters—even when autocorrect exists and nobody can read cursive anymore.

Our Mission

Literacy Advocates is an alliance of individuals, companies, and organizations who come together to achieve a common goal—to champion the cognitive, educational, and cultural value of foundational ELA skills.

We’re building the resource hub and community that literacy and ELA educators actually deserve—where you can find research-backed strategies for teaching reading, practical tools for developing writers, evidence-based handwriting instruction that doesn’t make you want to throw your favorite pen across the room.  We’re a network of fellow educators who get that teaching kids to decode words and encode ideas is both the most important work in education—and occasionally absurd enough to require a really good sense of humor.

Who We Serve

We support literacy and ELA educators with the resources, tools, and community they need to teach reading, writing, and handwriting effectively. Helping students master the fundamental skills of human communication shouldn’t require you to reinvent the wheel, grade papers until 2:00am, or wonder if anyone else thinks teaching cursive in the digital age is both essential and slightly bonkers.
